Hi, I’m Heather and have been working as a Doula for over 4 years but have been actively training in pregnancy, labour and delivery for even longer. I have had the privilege of attending approximately 50 births
While pregnant with my 3rd child, I certified as a Pre/Postnatal Fitness Instructor and later as a Childbirth Educator. In order to gain more hands-on experience I started working weekly as a volunteer doula. Needless to say I have seen all kinds of births—all beautiful and different.
I am also an aspiring midwife working towards that personal goal.
I believe that birth is a wonderful, exciting, natural process. That being said, I know that for some, the process works better and more smoothly than for others. I believe that medical interventions have a way of changing the course of labour and think that we should avoid them if possible without compromising the safety of mom and baby.
I enjoy getting to know my clients and working with them to define their wishes and expectations surrounding the birth of their babies. Each one has a different vision and brings with them a history that shapes their goals. I strive to examine and develop positive realistic expectations while reducing any fears or anxieties.
