"The birth experience with my first son was not very positive. I did not feel empowered or strong, I was treated as if I was sick and the doctors where going to "cure" me.
When I became pregnant with my 2nd child I knew I wanted it to be different. I signed on with Midwives and booked Heather as my Doula. I also planned on a home birth.. When my waters broke at 10.30pm on a Friday night, 8 days over due, I called my midwives and Heather. Heather was at my house very quickly and was a wonderful support to my husband and I. She knew when I needed support and when I just needed to be left alone to focus and concentrate on my contractions. She helped my husband to support me and also to remain calm as the midwives where running very late and things where progressing very quickly. Once they arrived, Heather reminded me that I had wanted to give birth squatting. I chose not to since I was comfortable at that point, but I was so grateful to Heather for remembering my wishes, respecting them and reminding me when my mind was otherwise occupied.
I can not express strongly enough how warm, caring and nurturing Heather is and I am convinced that my birth experience was so beautiful, peaceful and fulfilling because of her support, knowledge and confidence. I would highly recommend Heather to any expecting mother."

"When I hired Heather I absolutely wanted an epidural, since I had used one with my first. Heather had no problem agreeing with this demand. I ended up being induced and once I started dilating, I progressed very quickly from 4-10 cm. In the end it happened too fast to get an epidural and Heather was the one who was able to convince me to let my baby out even when I didn't want to proceed without the epidural. She was a rock and I never thought I would be able to have a baby without an epidural. I was flying high after this experience."
